FAQ

What was the starting point for this collection?

I’ve been obsessed with vintage sunglasses for years—I have this pair of vintage Gucci shields that I wear constantly and get asked about every single time. I wanted to create a collection with that same energy: frames that feel like you found them at a flea market in Paris, but they’re actually well-made, polarized, and under $130. The whole collection is named after NYC neighborhoods because that felt right—these are city girl glasses.

Which frame are you reaching for the most right now?

The Downtown in olive crystal. It’s giving main character. It’s a shield, so it covers half your face, the silver flash lens is really unexpected, and it goes with literally everything. I’ve been wearing it with a white tee and jeans, and it makes the whole outfit look intentional.

You’ve worn every sunglass on the market - why make your own?

Because the ones I love are either $500 or they fall apart in two weeks. I wanted that in-between—something that actually looks expensive, has polarized lenses, fits well, and I don’t have a panic attack if I lose them at dinner. Also, DIFF donates a pair of reading glasses for every pair sold, which mattered to me, as I didn’t want this to just be a cash grab collab.

How did you approach styling these - did the outfits inform the frames or the other way around?

The frames came first. The Brooklyn is very clean and minimal, so she goes with everything tailored. The Tribeca is a little more attitude—that’s your going-out-in-a-slip-dress frame. The Downtown is the statement piece. I styled the whole campaign thinking about how a real person would actually wear these, not just how they look on a white background.

If someone’s buying their first pair from the collection, where do you tell them to start?

The Brooklyn in black. It’s the most versatile, it’s polarized, and the shape is flattering on literally every face. It’s the one you’ll wear five days a week and get compliments every time. Then, once you’re hooked, come back for The Downtown because you will want her.
