Symptoms of Prolonged Blue Light Exposure

It’s hard to conclude what all of the long term effects of extended screen time are. This is mainly because Millennials are the first generation with such high rates of digital exposure. But, we do know that some of the immediate effects are:

All of these symptoms, at a minimum, are uncomfortable and a hindrance to daily productivity.

We’re probably not going to ditch our phones and laptops anytime soon, and most people have a hard time managing an hour without their phones, let alone a week. To help, we’ve created eyewear that works similarly to sunblock for your skin. Our Blue Light Blocking glasses protect your eyes by adding a barrier via a specialized lens that acts as a blue light filter to absorb some of the blue light rays so they don’t enter your eyes.

If you’re looking to mimic the look of prescription glasses, you can opt for the Standard Blue Light Blocking glasses with its clear lens. With its ability to block 30% of blue light, it is a great way to mitigate the risk of prolonged exposure to blue light waves.

What is Blue Light?

Recently, minimizing your blue light exposure has been the subject of many health discussions, but what even is Blue Light in the first place? Blue Light is classified on the light spectrum as HEV, or High Energy Visible light. This means that blue light greatly affects your circadian rhythm, or your internal sleep-wake clock, because it mimics the same light you receive from the sun. It can even block the melatonin your body produces that helps you to wind down after a long day. Looking at your phone screen or television at night before bed can cause your body to stay up later, disrupting your sleep cycle and possibly leading to sleep disorders such as insomnia. This is why screen glasses that have a blue light filter, like our Blue Light Blocking Glasses, can be very beneficial to your overall health and wellness.
